How a Simple Frustration Sparked a Smart Solution
TARA (तारा)—meaning “star” in Hindi—is more than a name. It symbolises guidance, clarity, and conscious beauty, while also representing the vision of its two founders: TAnvi, a beauty expert passionate about user safety, and RAhul, an engineer driven by innovation and problem-solving.
The idea for TARA emerged from a shared frustration:
Why is it still so difficult to know when a product expires after opening?
In the cosmetics and personal care industry, regulations mandate a “Period After Opening” (PAO) symbol—such as “6M” or “12M.” But this static label places the burden entirely on the user to remember when a product was first opened and when it should be discarded. There’s no active system to bridge this critical gap between regulatory compliance and real-world usage.
The result?
Confusion, accidental use of expired products, allergic reactions, and ultimately, loss of consumer trust.
While some brands experiment with batch numbers, QR codes, or app-based solutions, none of these activate the moment a product is first used. They all depend on user effort. TARA changes that.
It’s a smart visual expiry tracker that activates automatically upon first use, then silently begins counting down the product’s safe usage window. When time’s up, it signals a clear visual alert, removing guesswork from your routine and reinforcing safety with every use.
In an era where consumers are more ingredient-aware and safety-conscious than ever, TARA empowers brands to lead with innovation, transparency, and care. It’s not just about meeting standards, it’s about redefining them.
